This report adressed the impact of alterations and additions to heritage listed Strathmore, its carport and rear yard. It sits on land once granted to Maria Hitchcock, as part of Governor Darling’s ‘marriage portions’ scheme. This scheme granted women portions of land upon marriage as a way to encourage bachelors of respectability to marry women of good standing in the community despite a lack of inherited wealth.
