Our Place - Waterloo - Esosa Equaibor b. 1970

Esosa was born in Nigeria in 1970 and immigrated with her family in 1976. Living first in Paddington before moving to Waterloo in 1980. One of our youngest interviewees, Esosa talks about growing up in the flats, she speaks of the friends she made there: 'We became very close, and because you were from that ethnic background, or what ever background whether they were Aboriginal, or whatever, you couldcommunicate with that, because we were all coming from somewhere else. Yeah, but that I think it was my friends and just being young there, at that time."

Caveat: This video was shot on a Sony Hi 8 video recorder. It was not until 2010 that we could get the analogue tapes digitised. Despite careful storage in the intervening period there has been some deterioration in quality. While we have retained the original .mov files from the original digitization in the SRA Archive, by necessity uploaded here are .mp4 files. The video is raw and unedited, a primary source document recording the occassion.
